She helps clients build their businesses in print and online by creating effective logos, marketing communications and sales materials, and websites. On web projects she provides a rare mix of web design and coding skills.

Nelson combines an intense and visionary graphic design eye with a logical sense of information organization that contributes to clear communication. An acute listener, she quickly understands client objectives and translates them into appropriate graphical representations. Her problem-solving nature welcomes complex design and communications challenges for which she consistently develops unique, outside-the-box solutions.

Background

A native of Paris, France, and a graduate of the prestigious Ecole Estienne — Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Industries Graphiques, she began her graphic design career working on global brands such as Lanvin Perfumes and Fashion. Her multicultural, multilingual capabilities and experience help her serve the needs of international clients, aside from U.S. businesses.

Prior to founding her graphic and web design studio in 1997, Nelson worked with a firm in Stamford (CT), where she created advertising and marketing materials for Pitney Bowes, and other corporate clients. She has successfully completed thousands of projects — from concept to final production — for clients in many industries, including medical products/healthcare, technology, marketing, education and nonprofit.

Philosophy

Building long-lasting client relationships is key to Nelson’s business philosophy. In fact, Studio B has retained many of the same clients since its inception. In addition, she is committed to producing work on budget, on time — every time.

Her longtime relationships extend to other top-notch senior level communications professionals from different disciplines who collaborate with her on client projects as needed.

Nelson engages in ongoing learning to remain on top of constantly evolving design and website technology. She hones her technical skills through participation in diverse professional seminars and workshops. She has received awards and recognition for her work, including the Silver Medal from The Association for Women in Communications and an Alliance Award from the Connecticut Press Club.

Bernadette Nelson served on the board of directors of the Fairfield County Public Relations Association (FCPRA) and is active in a number of other professional associations. Studio B was designated a “Woman Owned/Small/Minority Business Enterprise by the State of Connecticut’s Supplier Diversity Program” while located in that State.

Personal information

Nelson is an avid skier. A Professional Ski Instructor of America (PSIA-Level III) she taught expert adult classes for the Killington Ski Club, VT on weekends from 1998 to 2013, and taught with the Deer Valley, UT Ski School from 2013 to 2021. She now enjoys skiing over 50 days a winter with friends.
A ballroom dancer aficionado, she taught adult group classes for the Continuing Education program of the City of Norwalk, CT for 5 years. She continues to dance and compete through BallroomUtah, a Salt Lake City studio.
